In Espionage movies this is usually code for “the president is inside airforce one and is safe.” or “we caught the bad guy, and he’s bound and gagged.”
Around our house it is usually code for “I’ve picked up the pizza’s and I’m in the car” or “I’ve picked up the kids and I’m on my way”.
But today it is code for “The Eagle is in the Nest”. Really.
No mixed messages, nothing covert, nothing secret.

You never know what you’ll find when your kids clean out their rooms. Josh moved out this week and I came across his digital camera which never thought he even used!
He does use it and has kept every picture he ever took on it. There were some I won’t publish here, having to do with a friends’ 21st birthday…but I thought it was fun to see pictures he took, or were taken of him, that I hadn’t seen before. Don’t be mad at me Josh.

Josh and Kristen a year ago when Josh still lived downtown

Kristen and her friend Kelly on a random trip to Seattle, last year in the fall sometime

A bunch of shots taken last winter at the mountain with Trevor

And Turtles and fish which we apparently can never get enough of!

Our comcast digital cable/DVR system, although very cool and high tech hasn’t ever worked the way it’s supposed to. It bugs me to no end that every time we turn on our “TV” we have to wait for it to boot up like a computer. And if I want to DVR a program I have to make sure the tv is on for several minutes, like 10, before my DVR options show up, or our ON DEMAND options show up. Because of this weird glitch we missed Grey’s Anatomy this week. Which really doesn’t ruin my life, BUT, Caleb and Hannah were going to come over this weekend to watch it, and now without that bait, we may not see them. I was still bummed about this when I got to work yesterday, so I asked the ladies I work with if this is an issue for them…the whole digital cable booting up taking forever. They all seemed pretty sure that something was amiss with how we have our system wired, so I stewed over it for the last 24 hours and by the time Rick and Josh left to do a side job on a house this morning, I had it figured out. Our cable box was plugged into our receiver for power instead of directly into the wall, so when we turn off the receiver, POOF! We have no cable. It’s like everyone else’s cable when the power goes out. So, as soon as they left I pulled the cabinet away from the wall to unplug the cord from the receiver and plug it into the wall…and what do I find?
What do I find???????
(Don’t judge me for the dust and dog hair back there–you know yours looks like this too)
This enormous…bug? WHAT THE??? Giant cockroaches Bellingham??? This thing is at least 4 or 6 inches long!
Then I notice the pinchers on it and realize this is the crawdad that vanished from Josh’s freshwater fish tank right after he caught it from the lake and introduced it to Stanley and Stella the Turtles.
I really miss Josh’s skateboarding phase.
