The upward climb

We enjoyed a wonderful day with Mom yesterday.  She was moved from ICU to her own private room and was completely lucid.  She is very weak, but she has no pain whatsoever.  The doctor and nurses can’t figure that out.  She does have some pain when getting up out of bed, but none while being still.  She has not been on any pain medication or any drugs since surgery.

So, although weak, and using a soft voice, Mom has been remarkably witty.  Her sense of humor is in full gear and she had us laughing each time we were with her in her room.  Dad has been flying high on the sense of relief seeing her progress and confident that she will make a full recovery.

Thank you all for your prayers for our family.  It is a hard thing for us to leave this morning, but we know she is in good hands.
