The Party: The Beginning

Let’s back up.

As I may or may not have mentioned, Rick and Joey had spent several weekends building a new smoker. They finished it two weekends ago and we towed it behind us on the 10 hour drive to my parents house last weekend.

We spent the day on Friday running errands, grocery shopping, cleaning, weeding flower beds; Dad and Rick did some cutting and welding on the smoker, finishing touches…Jack and Dad hung lights.

Then, Saturday morning, (if you could call it morning) Rick and Dad and Jack got up at 3:00 am to fire up the smoker. I wanted to get up, really, I wanted to. But I couldn’t. Thankfully, Cheryl did, and she took these two pictures.

Apparently, Cher and Rick stayed up and played Words With Friends in the kitchen while I did what normal people do at 3 a.m.

Saturday we went out for breakfast and then hit the day with gusto, setting up tables and chairs, cooking, directing traffic…

This was a more acceptable time of morning to be up taking pictures!
